Novel cyanoacetamide integrated phenothiazines: Synthesis.
Synthesis of Cyanoacrylate. The synthesis of cyanoacrylate is based on the Knovenagel Reaction (2). This is the condensation of formaldehyde (methanal) and an alkyl cyanoacetate. In the first step, an enolate is formed from the alkyl cyanide. The resulting enolate anion acts as a nucelophile and attacks the electrophilic carbon on the formaldehyde.

This study aimed for the synthesis of new heterocyclic compounds incorporating sulfamoyl moiety suitable for use as antimicrobial agents via a versatile, readily accessible N-(4-(aminosulfonyl)phenyl)-2-cyanoacetamide (3). The 2-pyridone derivatives were obtained via reaction of cyanoacetamide with acetylacetone or arylidenes malononitrile.
Cyanoacetic acid is a versatile intermediate in the preparation of chemicals. it is a precursor to synthetic caffeine via the intermediacy of theophylline. It is a building block for many drugs, including dextromethorphan, amiloride, sulfadimethoxine, and allopurinol, and also for Peldesine. Safety ( edit ).
Editor's note: Some chemicals in this database contain more information than others due to the original reason this information was collected and how the compilation was accomplished. While working with material safety data sheets (MSDS), I found that manufacturers sometimes used obscure names for constituent chemicals and I didn't always have a good idea of what I was dealing with.
